Weekly blog post

This week I really enjoyed doing surfing on Monday, on Wednesday I did office duty with Layla we really enjoy doing that. I also  like doing dodgeball. Every week I have to get 3-5 points for my Mahi-A-Tahi. And since I got three points I got to play dodgeball on Wednesday. The last thing I like doing is tech, every Thursday I go on a bus to tech. My activity I do is sowing. Lately I have been making a pillow. I am making my pillow for my mum. few things I found difficult were trying not to fall off my surf board and another thing I found difficult was trying to make my bone carving, without my clay breaking.

My goal for next week is trying not to fall off my surf board and trying to get my balance. And I am going to try and finish my pillow for tech so I can show my mum.!

bone carving

Today I am going to draw a design for my bone carving. The symbol I chose was pikoura. I am making mine for Maniya. First I designed my carving on paper. Next I used molding clay to practice the way. I am going to make my necklace and put the hole in it to put the string through. Then I let my practice model dry overnight in my studio.

Week 6 reflection.

This is my reflective blog post for week 6.

This week the most thing I improved was swimming. Every morning Mr Redmond took all the kids swimming and I went because I wanted to do swimming sports. Today/Friday, I did swimming sports. I did Breaststroke and freestyle. I thought I was going to come last but for breaststroke I came 2nd and for freestyle I came 1st.

The second activity I enjoyed was doing dodgeball. Mr Redmond took kids down to the hall only if they had 3 mahi-a-tahi points. I went because I had three points, when I got in the hall it got so chaotic because everyone was yelling.

The third activity I liked was helping the little kids with their tryathlon. Me and Layla Poff helped direct the kids and showed them which way they were supposed to go.

My goal for next week is to practise swimming for my zones in 2 weeks.

😜

Division

Today in maths I did a division test. I got 54 correct in 10 minutes.

I did way better in my multiplication test.

Next time I want to get at least 70 right

I completed my test in over 10 minutes.

Duolingo

This week for Mahi-A-Tahi I did a duolingo and I chose to do learn Spanish. Some of the words were kinda hard to pronounce. At the end I ended up get 70%. Witch was kinda bad. I recommend you should try out duolingo. It’s pretty fun and you can communicate with friends.

😄😁

Week reflection.

This week I did office duty. When I was in the office I was a bit nervous at first but I started to get more confident  each time. One thing I am trying to overcome is answering the phone, I am really scared to answer the phone because I feel like I am going to giggle while talking and mispronounce words. I also went swimming, I was also a bit nervous but when I got in the water I was fine, the first things I did was breath stroke to one end of the pool and back stroke to the other end of the pool.

Fitness goals.

This year, I’m setting a fitness goal. First Today I ran two laps around the bike track, First I did one lap and I thought it was really easy so I decided to do another one, that was also really easy, I was gonna do another one but everyone was nearly finished so I didn’t do another one. So I am setting a goal, I am going to try and do 4-5 laps around the bike track without stopping.  The reason I am trying to do 4-5 laps, is because I am trying to get into zones for middle distance.

This week, 3 good things, 1 challenge, goal for next week.

This week was my first full week of school. My first challenge I had to do was sowing. But that was at tech. So on Thursday all year 7 & 8s go to tech. We all get given groups, and then in the mornings on thursday we go on a bus and go to tech.

Three good things that happened was I learnt how to sow at tech, and how to make fugglers. Another good thing that happened was Mr Redmond was teaching me how to link words. One last thing that I enjoyed doing was kapa haka, I did kapa haka last year and I really enjoyed it, so I decided to do it again this year.

The goal I am setting for next week is getting better at sowing in tech.

Week one Reflection.

This week, was my first week back at school, I was a bit nervous at first because I was moving Into a different class. One thing I was excited for was seeing all my friends because I didn’t really see them over the holidays.

Monday was the first day back at school, When I walked in many people looked unfamiliar to me, but with those three days I got to know some people.

One really weird thing for me was, they had a different routine, And the thing that got me was, in Tane-Mahuta we had to put our lunch box and drink bottle on a shelve, but in Tangroa we could just keep them in our bag and put our bag on the shelve.

On Monday we started doing this rotation thing, where each group moves to a different teacher, first I was with Mr Redmond, The activity he did was we had to grab our whole tote tray, then we had to grad this book I forgot what it was called but we had to open it up on the first page, then we had to write these two words I also forgot what they were, then we had a choice to do winter sport, break time, and swimming, I picked winter sport, after we chose what we wanted we had to how to keep ourselves safe when out of school grounds

. When I was finish with Mr Redmond I went to Sharon, Sharon’s activity was about art, First she gave a sheet of paper, in the middle of the paper it said _____ Can’t imagine life without.. but you had to write your name at the start so it would sound like Harper can’t imagine life without.. Then on the outside you had to write some things you can’t live without. After I finished with Sharon I went to Nicole, Nicole did this thing called maths about me, so you had to write your name in the middle of a Google doc and facts about yourself around your name. and that is how my first two days were.
