Statistics

For the past few weeks we have been learning about statistics. I was working with Millicent. Our statement was how far can you throw a shot-put. And our three statements were I learn how to throw a shot-put better, I learnt how to make graphs on google sheets, and I have learnt how to use a tape measure.

  1.  5 people could throw the shot put 3-4 metres.
  2. 3 people could throw the shot-put 7+ meters.
  3. 9 people could throw the shot-put 4-5 meters.

Persuasive writing. Zoos are good.

Introduction: I think animals are better living in a zoo than in the wild. I have a lot of reasons why animals should stay in zoos.

Paragraph 1- In my opinion we should keep zoos because tourists from other countries spend their money to come and see the animals and take photos of them. People also spend money to go to the cafe and all the money they spend goes on looking after the animals.

Paragraph 2- Zoos allow people to see animals that they don’t normally see. Kiwis are a New Zealand bird but some New Zealanders don’t normally see them. People don’t normally see them because they are nocturnal and they are quite rare. Also most kiwis are pretty hard to spot. At Willow-bank it is pretty hard to see the kiwis but you have a bigger chance to see them than not see them. In the wild, you probably won’t be able to see them because they would be in the bushes and dark.

Paragraph 3- Zookeepers and zoo vets care for the animals and work hard to give them a happy life. Zoo vets are good people because if an animal gets injured then they can help that animal. And if an animal gets injured in the wild then they won’t get any help.

Paragraph 4- I also think we should keep zoos because the animals get given fresh food/meat by the zookeepers where in the wild they don’t get given fresh food.

Paragraph 5- A zookeeper’s responsibilities usually include feeding, maintaining and cleaning the animals, diet preparation, behavioral observation, record keeping, exhibit maintenance and providing environmental enrichment for the animals in their care. A few other reasons why I want to keep zoos are because they clean out enclosures and change bedding, check for signs of distress or disease, work with a vet to care for sick animals, check enclosures for signs of wear or damage, monitor conditions like temperature and humidity. Those are all the reasons why I want to keep zoos.

Conclusion: To those zookeepers out there you better not stop running the zoos because they have good care living in the zoos. But in the wild they have no care living out

Hope you like it!
